At 20 People, including 5 International Journalists were killed in the second wave of Israeli Air Force Strike at the Main Hospital in Southern Gaza on Monday.
The first Strike hit the top floor of Naseer Hospital in Khan Younis , killing the journalists and health workers. As the rescuers and journalist rushed to help the wounded , the Second Strike was carried out on the same spot, few minutes after the First Strike.
Meanwhile , Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a ” Tragic Mishap ” and expresses ” Regret ” over the incident .
In the statement released by The Israel Defence Force ( IDF ) on Monday clarified that it doesn’t ” intentionally ” targetted the civilians and health workers , blaming Hamas for creating ” impossible conditions ” throughout the war .
In the Statement released by his office he says ”Israel deeply regrets the tragic mishap that occurred today at the Nasser Hospital in Gaza” .
” Israel values the work of journalists, medical staff, and all civilians. The military authorities are conducting a thorough investigation.
Our war is with Hamas terrorists. Our just goals are defeating Hamas and bringing our hostages home ” .
The event draws global condemnation from various Nations , Political leader and International Organisations .
The U.S President Donald Trump , while interacting with the media seems furious about the event and said ,” Well I’m not happy about it , I don’t want to see it at the same time We have to end that whole nightmare . I’m the One that got the hostages out. I got them out , all of them . Now we are left with 20 hostages with one or two were gone , it’s a nasty situation , horrible thing ” .
The U.S President claims that the Gaza war will reach a ” pretty good conclusive ending ” in the next two or three weeks .
Zaher al – Wahidi , head of the records department at the Gaza’s Health Ministry , controlled by Hamas , said the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis had been hit by successive strikes . The first hit the fourth floor, and a second strike hit the same spot when the rescue crews and reporters arrived at the scene .
The Associated Press ( AP ) reported a journalist killed in the strike as Mariam Dagga, one of its freelancer and said it was ” shocked and saddened ” . Al Jazeera, the Qatar based news agency , said that Mohammed Salama, a photographer , worked for them , lost his life . Reuters reported that Hussam al-Masri , a contractor cameraman who had worked for the agency, was also among the dead . Another Reuters journalist , Hatem Khaled , was wounded in the attack .
David Lammy , the British foreign secretary, said he was ” horrified ” by the latest deaths and called for an end to the fighting .
The UN Secretary – General Antonio Guterres condemned the killing of the journalists and health workers , citing the ” extreme risks ” involved while they carrying out their work . The UN Chief also called for an investigation .
Hamas also released a statement and called the strike ” Cowardly ” aimed towards discourage journalists from conveying the truth and covering war crimes , ethnic cleansing , and the horrific living conditions of our Palestinian people in Gaza ” .
The Gaza Health Ministry reported on 19th August that at least 60 people were killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza , increasing its count of the Palestinian death toll in Gaza to 62,064 .
The United Nations has reported more than 240 Palestinian and International journalists had lost their lives since the start of the war by Israel till 11 August 2025 .
