BGMI Mobile History in India

The history of BGMI India is also dramatic and KRAFTON has suffered a serious of unfortunate events in the past within India with its crown jewel gaming platform. The BGMI Mobile is a online Multiplayer Shooting Game where players ingage in fight and eliminate themselves via various types of guns and ammunations. The survivor in the end was declared as the winner. Before BGMI Mobile was introduced , it was also known as PUBG Mobile , the most popular gaming platform among the Indian youths at that time.
PUBG Mobile was banned in India in September 2020 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the IT Act, citing concerns over transmitting and storing users data over foreign servers , which acts as a major threat to national security and users data privacy. The situation got worsened by geopolitical tensions with china.
The action fell under a broader government action of banning apps with Chinese ties following border clashes with China. Although the game’s intellectual property rights was owned by South Korean firm Krafton, it’s mobile distribution and publishing rights in India were managed by Tencent Games, a Chinese multinational company , which was managed and influenced by the Chinese government , as per the Indian Officials.
Indian authorities stated that the app collected and shared it’s users data in ways that compromised National security and sensetive personal data of it’s nationals.
Prior to the national ban, local politicians and social groups raised concerns about the game’s addictive nature and alleged links to youth behavioral issues which includes anger , rage , mental disorders and violence. Some teenagers have squandered a large sum of money of their parents due to their gaming addiction.
After removal from the Play Store , developer Krafton held continuous discussions with Indian authorities, working to localize servers and resolve compliance issues. Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) returned to India on May 29, 2023, following a 10 month ban imposed by the Indian authorities.
